EAST LANSING, Mich. – For 86 years Eaton Community Bank has served Mid-Michigan. Yet Monday was the first time the local community bank could officially call East Lansing home.

“It just made sense,” said President Tim Jewell of Eaton’s new branch at 1390 West Lake Lansing Road. “We’ve been serving East Lansing and Lansing customers for decades. Now they’ve got a local branch they can walk into and enjoy the same great experience and local expertise with a personal touch.”

The new East Lansing branch is the seventh for Eaton Community Bank, and second in Ingham County. East Lansing joins Charlotte, Eaton Rapids, Grand Ledge, Nashville, Olivet and Stockbridge.

Eaton Community Bank was originally chartered by two Charlotte businessmen in 1937 to help local families buy a home and provide a safe place to invest their savings. Today, Eaton provides expanded services and solutions to meet the financial needs of the diverse communities it calls home. Eaton offers robust digital tools and financing for both consumer and business customers.

“We’re bringing the smalltown vibes to East Lansing – true community banking where the decisions are kept local,” East Lansing Branch Manager Dan Shanahan said.

Shanahan is no stranger to East Lansing. A native of Potterville with 15-plus years of community banking experience in Mid-Michigan, Shanahan is a lifelong fan of Michigan State University athletics, volunteer basketball and golf coach at Potterville High School and proud father.

“That’s the best part of a community bank, we offer the same financial expertise as every other bank and combine that with expert knowledge of the local communities and business landscape,” Shanahan said. “There’s a need for that in this market. Small, successful businesses that are too small for the big, corporate banks will find a dedicated partner in Eaton Community Bank.”
